Comverge and Pro1 Partnership Delivers Thermostat with Advanced Demand Response and Energy Efficiency Capabilities

Comverge, Inc., the leading provider of Intelligent Energy Management solutions, and Pro1, one of the largest heating and cooling controls manufacturers in North America, today announced a partnership tied to Pro1’s launch of new cost-effective Wi-Fi thermostats. Pro1 will use Comverge’s IntelliSOURCE™ software platform to provide mobile-based thermostat management and energy efficiency benefits for its customers while simultaneously enabling demand response capabilities for the device.

Pro1, a leading manufacturer of innovative heating and cooling products, has millions of thermostats installed in the field with compatible wiring bases and a network of tens of thousands of professional installers. Pro1’s partnership with Comverge will enable utilities to use the T855i Wi-Fi Thermostat as a demand response resource that is installed by Pro1’s extensive and dedicated national channel of reseller partners. This “third-party device aggregation” approach significantly reduces the participant recruitment and installation costs typically associated with demand response programs.

“We are excited about launching our new Wi-Fi thermostat in partnership with Comverge,” said Jeff Edgar, CEO, Pro1. “The leading-edge customer engagement tools from Comverge enable our customers to easily control their thermostat from a mobile device. We recognize that demand response programs are a very important part of the energy mix as they help save energy, generate revenue for homeowners, and protect the environment. By partnering with a market leader such as Comverge, we help utilities seamlessly integrate the T855i thermostat into their demand response programs. This enables an affordable and reliable resource that can be delivered at scale.”

The Comverge IntelliSOURCE software platform is a fully integrated solution that enables utilities to manage demand response and energy efficiency programs. The Pro1 partnership reflects Comverge’s commitment to enabling utility clients to cost-effectively add third-party devices to demand response programs. Comverge recently announced the IntelliSOURCE advanced applications for demand management optimization. These applications leverage the capabilities of two-way communications, data analytics and machine-learning algorithms to distill high-quality, predictable megawatts from all participating demand management devices, regardless of each device’s unique capabilities and characteristics.

“Comverge is committed to helping our utility customers drive down the cost of deploying demand response programs,” said Brent Dreher, chief sales and marketing officer, Comverge. “We are investing heavily in our IntelliSOURCE advanced applications and key partnerships with market leaders like Pro1 to leverage trade and retail thermostats as part of a demand response program. Pro1’s vast network of installers provides an excellent channel to create scale for demand response resources via more cost-effective participant recruitment and installation compared to traditional approaches. We are very excited to have Pro1 as a key partner as we deliver on our strategy of providing a comprehensive set of retail and trade-installed devices to incorporate into demand response or energy efficiency programs.”
